Product Updates:

NEW PRODUCT UPDATES: We strive to provide only the best plants we have available, and are constantly adding new species and hybrids of carnivorous plants to our availability. In fact, we have one of the most diverse selections of carnivorous plants available anywhere in the U.S. Many U.S. suppliers have a good selection of flytraps, or pitcher plants, or even Nepenthes (tropical pitcher plants); but we have it all! No need to look further than PetFlyTrap.com for your carnivorous plant needs.

REGARDING OUR UPDATES PAGE: While we strive to keep our customers and visitors as updated as possible, it is not always easy to keep updating multiple pages with the most current information. Because of this, we have decided to use our FaceBook page as our main up-to-date information resource, and will only post major updates on this page. Please become a fan of PetFlyTrap.com on FaceBook to see what's going on in the world of PetFlytrap.com!

UPDATE FOR JUNE 11: We are expecting a shipment from Exotica Plants in Australia to be shipped any day now. This order will replace many of the plants which were destroyed (under inaccurate pretenses) by USDA. As soon as these plants are settled in, they will be added to our inventory. And remember that if it shows up on our web site, IT'S IN STOCK!
We also have just placed an order with Borneo Exotics in Sri Lanka, which should be shipping in a few weeks; this order will include some new plants for us, including Nepenthes alba (recently featured in the Carnivorous Plant Newsletter, the official publication of the International Carnivorous Plant Society), some large-size N. ampullaria 'Cantley's Red', N. campanulata, N. kerrii (a new-to-science species!), N. boschiana, N. spectabilis x aristolochioides, and the rare and BEAUTIFUL N. jacquelineae!

UPDATE FOR JUNE 10: We have two domestic shipments coming in shortly, one which will contain some NICE-SIZED Cephalotus follicularis, and the other will contain some mature Drosera falconeri. These are both plants that are highly prized by carnivorous plant enthusiasts and collectors, and we don't expect them to last for long. We will be posting these items in the next couple of days, so check back often to get your hands on one or both of these!

UPDATE FOR MAY 7: We were supported very nicely by a member of the wholesale carnivorous plant community, and were permitted to purchase a good quantity of some of the products which we had lost on our last Exotica Plants order. As a result, we have also lowered our prices on some of our Nepenthes! Orders comtinue to be shipped on a daily basis, and although it doesn't always happen, we still endeavor to ship all orders within two business days of when the order is placed.

UPDATE FOR April 22: A bit of a 'soapbox' update here...our shipment from Exotica plants in Australia was confiscated by USDA last week because of the supposed finding of a type of fungus. USDA destroyed the shipment to prevent this 'pathogen' from potentially affecting the US environment and agriculture, which we can understand. However, we have documentation from plant pathologists in Australia who state that USDA has misidentified this fungus, and cannot have identified it correctly using the methods that were used by USDA. Exotica Plants has had over $50,000 in plants destroyed by the USDA over the past several years, and yet none of the pathogens (pests, fungi, dieseases, etc.) in question can be found at their facility; we continue to receive fantastic, healthy plants from them whenever our shipments can get through USDA. We are working very hard to get USDA to allow an inspection of the supposedly infected plant by an independent source. USDA is very resistant to this, claiming that their national inspectors are 'the best of the best' (which I would hope is true), and that their findings are unquestionable. We have been pressed very hard by our local USDA inspection facility to just destroy this shipment, inferring that we will have to deal with the Department of Homeland Security if we do not let them destroy the shipment or return it to Australia. This 'belief of infallibility' by the USDA has to stop! It is costing many US carnivorous plant businesses thousands of dollars, and all because of the lack of checks and balances within the USDA national inspection service. Because of the amount of time this endeavor is taking, we are a few days behind our usual schedule on shipping orders; rest assured, though, that orders are being shipped on a daily basis, and that your order will be shipped just as quickly as possible.

UPDATE FOR MARCH 30: Our order from Malesiana Tropicals in Malaysia was destroyed by the USDA plant inspection facility, due to the finding of some sort of mite in the shipping materials. We have already placed a replacement order, and this will be shipping next week. Thank you in advance to those customers who are waiting on plants from these orders for their patience; this is just as frustrating for us as it is for our customers!

We have also just placed another import order with Exotica Plants in Australia. This order is due to be shipped as early as next week, so if there's something in particular you want us to import from them, please let us know of your request as quickly as possible, and we will try to add it on.

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 28: Our orders with Malesiana Tropicals in Malaysia and Borneo Exotics in Sri Lanka are both shipping this week. We have begun to add the new plants from these orders to our inventory (including some of the rarely available Cephalotus follicularis and three species of Heliamphora!), and will ship them out just as soon as they are settled in; see the February 1 update below for a list of all the new plants!

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 24: All the new plants from our Exotica Plants (Australia) order are settled in and available for immediate shipment. Many of these are in VERY limited supply - sometimes only one plant! - so get them while we have them! In our opinion, the Nepenthes ventricosa x ramispina are simply stunning; the pitchers are deep, deep red with even darker speckles on the outside, and ghostly green on the inside. WILD!

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 8: We have just completely finalized our spring order with Borneo Exotics, and have added a few more species to the (already huge!) list of new plants that are coming in on this order. These will include Nepenthes insignis, as well as Heliamphora minor, H. nutans and H. tatei. We are hoping to have this order ship by the end of the month, and will add these to our availability list soon.

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 6: Our order from Exotica Plants in Australia will ship to us next week! As a result, we have added these plants to our availability list. However, some of these plants are in VERY limited quantities (there are some of them for which we could only get a single plant!); if you have a specific species or hybrid that you're waiting for, now is the time! Take a look at the picture of the Nepenthes spectabilis x truncata for an idea of the quality and beauty of some of these plants!
These plants will be shipped just as soon as they are settled in; this is usually a week or so after they have been potted up, and makes sure that the plants are healthy and not at risk of shock when they are received by our customers.

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 1: We have just ordered a huge number of new Nepenthes hybrids and species from Exotica Plants in Australia, Borneo Exotics in Sri Lanka, and Malesiana Tropicals in Borneo; while these orders will be arriving from mid-February to early March, we will be adding them to our availability list as time allows, in order to give our regular customers the opportunity to get these plants early. Orders for these plants will be shipped out once they are settled in. These orders will add the following plants to our already monstrous availability list; I'm sure you will agree that our availability list seems to grow by the day!

UPDATE FOR NOVEMBER 30: We received a number of new Nepenthes hybrids and species from Exotica Plants in Australia In November, and they are settled in and available now. We have also received a HUGE Nepenthes order from Borneo Exotics in Sri Lanka last week, which includes (among MANY other things listed further down the page) additional stocks of the highly sought-after Nepenthes truncata 'Queen of Hearts' x 'King of Spades', and some LARGE specimens of a new cultivar of Nepenthes ampullaria called 'Borneo Sunset'; I'm sure you will agree that our availability list seems to grow by the day!

UPDATE FOR OCTOBER 29: Many new Nepenthes are now available from our recent shipments from Borneo Exotics and Malesiana Tropicals. This adds even more diversity to our growing list of plants, including Nepenthes bellii, N. distillatoria, some VERY large, near SOLID RED N. ampullaria 'Brunei Red', a GIANT form of N. rafflesiana (pitchers can get over a fot tall!), two forms of N. mirabilis, N. x trichocarpa, and what may be the most awaited Nepenthes release in recent times: seed-grown plants of a cross between Nepenthes truncata 'Queen of Hearts' and Nepenthes truncata 'King of Spades'. Both of these parent plants are known for producing huge, dark (almost black) pitchers, and 'Queen of Hearts' is one of the most photographed Nepenthes in the world. We have sold all of our pre-orders for now, but are working hard to have more available in time for Christmas delivery. As with the first two bunches we made available to our customers, these will go quickly, so be sure to check back frequently to reserve your plants!

UPDATE FOR OCTOBER 15: Our October order from Malesiana Tropicals is here, and all new plants have been added to our inventory. In addition to what we previously had had in stock, this order added some very nice medium-sized N. truncata, a few N. sumatrana (RARELY available!), the beautiful N. 'Menarik' (a hybrid between N. rafflesiana and N. veitchii), N. albomarginata 'Kuching Spotted' (beautiful white rings around the pitcher mouth!), N. ampullaria 'Bau Green', N. gracilis Green, and some FANTASTIC and highly sought after Nepenthes burbidgeae x edwardsiana, with wicked looking TOOTHED peristomes!! Our November order from Borneo Exotics is also on the way, and includes Nepenthes northiana, N. albomarginata 'Brunei', N. bicalcarata 'Brunei red flush', N. danseri, N. fusca, N. hirsuta, N. lowii (wicked, toilet bowl-shaped upper pitchers!), N. macrovulgaris, N. truncata 'Pasian highlands', N. vieillardii, several forms of N. spectabilis, N. bellii x truncata (one of the smallest-pitchering species crossed with one of the largest!), N. ventricosa x spectabilis, N. (veitchii x lowii) x spectabilis, and a new variety of N. ampullaria with sunset-red lips and lighter-colored pitcher, aptly named N. ampullaria 'Borneo Sunset'. These plants are available for sale now, and will be shipped the first week of December.

The 6-inch Nepenthes ventrata and 8-inch Nepenthes 'Miranda' hanging baskets are spectacular right now, with some of the pitchers up to almost 12 inches tall; get them now while we have them! We now stock a new pitcher plant cultivar, Sarracenia 'Cobra Nest,' which can be grown indoors (S. purpurea ssp. venosa grows well indoors too), and we have new sizes and types of flytraps.
