Description

The picture says it all; this new species has some fantastic pitchers! Nepenthes gymnamphora is native to Java and Sumatra, and grows very well in intermediate conditions. There is a bit of debate regarding the taxonomic status of this species, and various authorities group this species with Nepenthes pectinata and Nepenthes xiphioides. It typically has rounded, solid deep red pitchers...not a common trait for Nepenthes in general. But these plants are produced from cuttings of a more purple-pitchered variety from Mount Talakmau in West Sumatra, and are simply stunning! All our plants are shipped potted and ready to grow to reduce stress, not bareroot as you find with many other suppliers. For those who are keeping records, this is Borneo Exotics' item BE-3078.
