Nepenthes lowii 'Gunung Mulu, Borneo' - WILD upper pitchers!

Nepenthes lowii is renowned and much sought-after for their jaw-dropping upper pitchers by anyone who knows much about Nepenthes. It is fairly similar to many other Nepenthes when small, but the underside of the pitcher lids is covered with stiff hairs. As they grow and start to produce upper pitchers, though, the pitcher shape changes drastically, flaring wide open. In fact, these pitchers often resemble a toilet bowl with a shiny, dark red interior, and have been documented as being used like a toilet bowl by tree-dwelling mammals in their native habitat! Originally from Gunung (Mount) Mulu in Borneo, these plants are from a location that is even MORE uncommon in cultivation than the ones from Gunung Trusmadi.
