Nepenthes ventricosa is a wonderfully easy plant to grow in a variety of growing conditions, and have beautifully waisted pitchers when mature. Most of the commonly available varieties of this species have uniformly-colored pink to red pitchers. But the they are also usually from the same clone or two. These plants are randomly selected from a large number of clones in tissue culture; so there should be some variability, AND there should be male and female plants in the mix! The pitchers of this species have a beautifully scalloped peristome (lip), which turns a deep reddish color as they mature as well. Adult plants can be over two feet across!
