Description
Our Peat-Perlite carnivorous plant soil mix is wonderful for indoor plants, or areas where they are sheltered from heavy rains. However, we have found that in our coastal Texas climate, our heavy downpours/storms cause a perlite-based soil to splash perlite all over the place...including on top of your prized plants! For this reason (and because a peat-sand mix more closely mimics the soil these plants enjoy in nature), we use this mix of 2:1 Sphagnum Peat:Coarse-grade Sand for all temperate plants we ship (we give you the good stuff!), AND for our collection plants that remain outdoors. Our plants love it; and there's no risk of perlite breakdown and the potential for the compounds that are released when this happens. This is THE standard mix we use for potting all of our Sarracenia, Dionaea, Drosera, and temperate Pinguicula. The mix is no secret; this just keeps you from having to buy more than you need! Available in quart and gallon Ziploc bags. The quart bag contains enough soil to fill approximately three 3-inch pots, two 4-inch pots, or one 5-inch pot. Please note that because of the sand content, this item is quite heavy and can increase the shipping cost substantially. Our shipping charges are determined by USPS, and are the same as what USPS would charge you at the post office!
