Pinguicula ehlersiae was first found in 1979 by Ms. Renate Ehlers, and was formally described as a new species in 1982. The original (type) specimen was collected near Guadalcazar in the state of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. However, the original stock that this plant descended from originated near Ixmiquilpan in Hidalgo, Mexico. There's no doubt it's a nice plant, and we think this is one of the most beautiful of all butterworts! The small, rounded leaves are a deep reddish-pink, with brilliant white edges that roll up and provide highly contrasting lines between the leaves. REALLY NEAT! Beautiful fuchsia flowers with a white splash in the centers too! All our plants are shipped potted and ready to grow to reduce stress, not bareroot as you find with many other suppliers.
