Description

We think that ALL of the various Pinguicula moranensis clones are wonderful butterworts, but this one is especially beautiful, and an easy one to start with too! This species of Mexican butterwort makes large rosettes of nicely rounded leaves. This is the 'Abalone Giant' clone, though, which has eye-catching Fuchsia pink hues to the flower petals as well. VERY nice! At first glance, all butterworts look like any other harmless plant. But the top surface of the butterwort's leaves are covered with sticky mucilage, and can trap scores of small fungus gnats, midges, fruit flies and other small insects. These are an excellent addition to your kitchen windowsill, provided they have sufficient humidity. Picture is representative of full-grown plants, suitable for 4-inch or larger pots.
