For those who want the best Long Fiber Sphagnum (LFS) moss for their plants, this is it! PREMIUM QUALITY PURE Sphagnum cristata moss from New Zealand, the highest quality Sphagnum moss available. Rated as the best available moss (9.9/10) on www.BestProductsReviews.com. This is the primary soil ingredient and the ONLY moss that we use for potting all of our Nepenthes. It is much more porous than our standard CP mix, and helps to aerate the roots of the plants, which mimics their natural environment. Once you hydrate it, these three briquettes are enough to make up to 24 LITERS of rehydrated Sphagnum moss. WOW! Classic length, with at least 75% of the strands being four inches in length; however, we have found the strands to be up to 10 inches or more! Please note that we are well aware that these uncertain times are making it tough to even FIND premium-quality New Zealand Sphagnum moss. There seems to be a greater amount of (vastly) inferior moss from Chile, Peru and other South American countries; But we have found this moss (a different species) to be composed of strands with much smaller heads and strand lengths. This means it compacts more, holds more water than the premium moss from NZ, and decomposes quicker. Most suppliers (like us) are paying OVER 50% MORE for it than we did before the pandemic for the premium New Zealand Sphagnum cristata; but in an effort to help our customers, we are doing what we can to help defray the cost to you.
Shipping is included in the price of these, so they ship separately from any other items you may purchase. We recommend that you purchase one of our other Sphagnum products, including single briquettes, if you plan to include them with an order for additional items.
NOTE: We ONLY use premium Long Fiber Sphagnum from New Zealand in our mixes, as this is the only location that 'farms' this precious resource in a more environmentally responsible manner. Other countries mine the Sphagnum and the peat underneath, meaning their product is often full of sticks, leaves, other plants, etc. And this 'mining' process leaves a gaping scar on the landscape that in most cases NEVER HEALS. In contrast, New Zealand takes only the top layer of Sphagnum, and then allows this location to regrow for years before Sphagnum is harvested from it again. We support this conservation practice, and feel the additional cost to get the highest quality product to our customers is worth it!
