If you're looking for the Purple Pitcher Plant, Sarracenia purpurea, look no further...here it is! Sarracenia purpurea is our favorite species of Sarracenia, and we especially like this more southerly-growing subspecies (ssp. venosa), as it tends to be more forgiving than the extreme northern subspecies (ssp. purpurea) in its growing conditions. It grows in the wild from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey all the way down into Georgia; so you can see this one is good for the vast majority of the country! Its short, tubby pitchers are such a contrast compared to the more upright-growing species as well! They often grow in the partial shade of other plants (grasses, sedges, small shrubs, etc.), making it a good choice for an indoor terrarium with good lighting. When grown in bright light, the entire pitcher initially is covered with deep red veins on a glowing green background. But eventually many of these can turn almost solid deep red...awesome! This SUPER DEAL includes TEN individually potted plants, and is OVER 30% OFF the regular individual price. Unless otherwise specified, all Sarracenia are shipped potted to reduce stress. Water and enjoy!
