While Sarracenia x farnhamii is now considered a synonym for Sarracenia x readii (both are hybrids between S. leucophylla and S. rubra!), we have kept two separate item codes for them...and with a reason. While this certainly has nothing to do with the plants in the wild, we have found that most of the plants that are in cultivation and labeled as Sarracenia x farnhamii tend to be shorter than the ones that are cultivated as Sarracenia x readii. The S. leucophylla parent gives these plants some nice red color, white-spots and a ruffled hood; while the S. x rubra parent gives this hybrid a more slender, graceful appearance and a tendency to clump and form more pitchers. This is a neat one! Please note these are from our tissue culture programs, so they will all be identical clones. All of our plants are shipped potted and ready to grow to reduce stress, not bareroot as you find with many other suppliers. Water and enjoy!
