Tropical Pitcher Plants (Nepenthes)

Great plants for novices and collectors alike, Tropical Pitcher Plants are in the genus Nepenthes. Each leaf forms a long tendril on the end, which in turn gives rise to a cylindrical 'pitcher'. Our Hanging Basket sized Nepenthes are wonderful gifts for that plant-lover you know! Outdoor growing in subtropical areas during the warmer months, and excellent windowsill / terrarium plants as well. Most varieties need filtered bright light, medium-high humidity, and pure water. New for Fall 2025: For those who are looking for unique Nepenthes species and cultivars that are not available in the mass-market, we are now offering ROOTED CUTTINGS of our individually-selected specialty Nepenthes from our personal collection! These are no more difficult than your average Nepenthes, and we would regard most of these as easy to grow; they were selected from many dozens of genetically-different clones for superior characteristics, ensuring that the plant you receive is exactly as described. No more concern about if the 'Assorted Clones' plant you receive will look like the one in the photo...it is the same plant! PLEASE NOTE that any Nepenthes cuttings available in Unrooted Cutting with Growth - Potted size are exactly as the description states: newer cuttings that have begun to grow from the node, but do not have well-established roots. We have done the hard part by getting these to begin to grow, but these will need a bit more tender loving than the other (more established) sizes.

While we do our best to oversize the plants we ship whenever possible, here are the minimum sizes for the Nepenthes that we offer; however, only items and sizes that are IN STOCK (no OUT OF STOCK items) will be displayed/available for purchase:

- Unrooted Cutting with Growth - Potted: Cutting that is showing active growth at the node, potted but not well-rooted. Recommended for growers with at least some experience.

- Small Potted: plant up to three inches in diameter in a 3" pot.

- Medium Potted: 3- to 6-inch diameter plant in a 4" pot.

- Large Potted: 6- to 12-inch diameter plant in a 4" pot. Note that due to their extra leaf span and constraints in packaging for shipping, Large Potted plants very likely will not be shipped with pitchers.

- Medium Hanging Basket: 3- to 6-inch diameter plant in a 6-inch hanging basket.

- Large Hanging Basket: 6- to 12-inch diameter plant in a 6-inch hanging basket.

- Extra-Large Hanging Basket: 12-plus inch single plant; or multiple Large-sized plants and/or growing points, in a 6-inch hanging basket.

- Jumbo Hanging Basket - Specimen-sized plants in a 6-inch or larger hanging basket.
