The name 'Dentate Traps' is the cultivar name that is registered and officially recognized by the International Carnivorous Plant Society for Venus Flytraps that have jagged, triangular trap edges (like TEETH) instead of the typical long eyelash-looking cilia. Technically, the cultivars known as 'Dente' and just 'Dentate' should both be called 'Dentate Traps'. However, our cultures of 'Dente' and 'Dentate Traps' originate from two very distinct sources; and in our experience we have found the clone usually sold as 'Dente' is not nearly as vigorous as this one is. So we have opted to offer BOTH of these to our customers! Talk about a mean-looking plant! The inside of the trap will redden in bright light, and really gives these plants the look of a gaping, fanged mouth waiting for that little insect morsel of food.
